The Digital Announcement Board Application for Imperial Mosques is a contemporary solution designed to eliminate long-standing visual clutter in the entrances and information areas of historic mosques. Temporary paper notices, posters, and improvised boards not only disrupt the visual harmony of Ottoman architecture but also weaken the effectiveness of communication with visitors. This project restructures all announcements through a single digital board, ensuring clarity, order, and aesthetic consistency.
In this project, Yasin Yavuz coordinated the conceptual framework and system design with a strong focus on balancing digital transformation and cultural heritage preservation. Instead of bright and distracting screens, the application utilizes low-luminance, automatically adjusted displays with matte surfaces. This approach ensures that the screen itself does not dominate the space; rather, the information remains readable and discreet. Frameless or minimal-frame designs combined with concealed cabling allow the system to blend seamlessly into the existing architectural fabric.
Rather than positioning tradition and technology as opposing forces, the project defines digital tools as invisible facilitators of order. Especially in imperial mosques with high tourist traffic, the need for multilingual information and clear orientation is critical. The digital announcement board enables centralized content management, providing visitors with accessible, up-to-date, and well-structured information aligned with contemporary expectations.
The system also offers a significant advantage in emergency communication and real-time guidance. Security alerts, schedule changes, or directional instructions can be published instantly, strengthening both visitor safety and administrative efficiency.
