The Çaykara Addiction Prevention and Awareness Program is a preventive social responsibility initiative planned by the Digital Sustainable Leadership Association (DESIL) and proposed to be implemented in cooperation with the Green Crescent Trabzon Branch. The program is designed based on the understanding that addiction is no longer merely an individual issue, but a multidimensional social risk that directly affects families, educational environments, and community structures.
The decreasing age at which children and young people encounter addictive behaviors highlights the critical need for early, field-based, and expert-supported preventive interventions. Although Çaykara is a relatively small district in terms of population, recent increases in addiction-related cases underline the importance of structured, sustainable, and scientifically grounded local awareness programs.
Within this project, Yasin Yavuz’s role focuses on the overall planning, coordination, and strategic implementation of the program, including stakeholder management, school-based scheduling, and impact-oriented content design. The program aims to reach a total of 932 students enrolled in 5 middle schools and 3 high schools across Çaykara through a three-day implementation period. Educational activities include informative seminars on different types of addiction, interactive learning sessions, and art-based awareness activities designed to enhance engagement and retention. All content is supported by Green Crescent’s scientifically validated educational materials, ensuring a reliable and sustainable training model.
DESIL’s prior experience in school-based projects, its strong collaboration network with local institutions, and ongoing partnerships with Çaykaraspor provide the program with a solid organizational and operational foundation. Through the Çaykara Addiction Prevention and Awareness Program, the goal is to establish a lasting awareness infrastructure within the district, enable students to access accurate information at an early age, and create a locally scalable model that can serve as an example for similar initiatives.
