Digital Notice Board System in the Imperial Mosques

The Digital Notice Board System in the Imperial Mosques is a contemporary organisation project that sets out to remove the visual clutter that has built up over the years in the entrance and information areas of historic mosques. Paper posters, temporary boards and unregulated notices both undermine the aesthetic integrity of Ottoman architecture and create a scattered information experience for visitors. With this project all announcements are presented in an orderly, clean and legible form through a single digital platform.

In this project Yasin Yavuz coordinated concept development, content hierarchy and system design, placing the balance between digitalisation and the protection of cultural heritage at the centre. Instead of bright, distracting screens, low-luminance displays with automatic brightness control and matt surfaces were chosen, so that what comes to the fore is the information conveyed rather than the screen itself. Frameless or plainly framed designs and concealed cabling solutions were used to keep intervention in the architectural fabric to a minimum.

Rather than setting tradition against technology, the project positions digital tools as an invisible ordering element. Particularly in the imperial mosques with heavy visitor traffic, multilingual information, wayfinding and programme announcements can now be managed from a single centre. This creates a clearer, more accessible and more contemporary communication infrastructure for local and foreign visitors alike.

The digital notice boards also offer a rapid communication advantage for emergency information, safety warnings and instant guidance. The project led by Yasin Yavuz was designed not only as an aesthetic improvement but as an infrastructure that supports crisis management and operational efficiency.
