Çaykara Addiction Prevention and Early Awareness Programme

The Çaykara Addiction Prevention and Early Awareness Programme is a preventive social responsibility project for schoolchildren, planned by the Dijital Sürdürülebilir Liderlik Derneği (DESİL) and designed to be carried out in cooperation with the Trabzon branch of Yeşilay. The programme is built on the recognition that addiction is not merely an individual matter but a multidimensional area of risk that directly affects families, educational settings and the wider social fabric.

As the age at which children and young people first encounter addiction continues to fall, preventive work has to begin early, on the ground and with expert support. Although Çaykara is a small district by population, it has drawn attention in recent years for a rising number of addiction cases. That picture makes planned, sustainable and evidence-based awareness programmes necessary at local level.

In this project the planning and coordination process led by Yasin Yavuz covers target-group analysis, the school-by-school implementation calendar and stakeholder management. The programme aims to reach a total of 932 pupils across 5 secondary schools and 3 high schools in Çaykara over three days. The training content is supported by informative seminars on types of addiction, risk factors and protective measures, together with art-based awareness activities and interactive presentation methods. The process is reinforced by Yeşilay’s scientific content and materials with the aim of establishing a sustainable education model.

DESİL’s earlier school-based projects in the district, the strong communication network it has built with local institutions and its ongoing cooperation with Çaykaraspor provide a solid foundation for the programme to produce effective and measurable results in the field. The Çaykara Addiction Prevention and Early Awareness Programme aims to give pupils early access to accurate information, to build a lasting awareness base against addiction, and to establish a model that can serve as an example at local level.
